Since joining The Towbes Group in 1997, Robert Skinner has served in several leadership roles, and is currently serving as its CEO. Mr. Skinner previously served as the General Counsel and Chief Innovation Officer of Montecito Bank & Trust, where he continues to serve on its Board of Directors. He was also one of the founding principals of Towbes Capital Partners, a real estate investment vehicle formed in 2000, and Agility Capital, a venture lending company also formed in 2000. Prior to moving to Santa Barbara in 1997, Mr. Skinner was an attorney with the international law firm of White & Case, specializing in real estate transaction and bankruptcy work. Mr. Skinner is an active member of the community, having served on several non-profit boards. He currently serves as a Trustee of The Towbes Foundation and on the Boards of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the Anti-Defamation League – Santa Barbara/Tri-Counties, the World Telehealth Initiative and Sustainable Change Alliance. Mr. Skinner served as a Trustee for the Santa Barbara Foundation from 2010 to 2019, where he also served as chair of the Impact Grant Committee, and currently serves as a community member of
the Foundation’s Investment committee. Mr. Skinner graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1985. In 1987, Mr. Skinner returned to his Alma Mater, earning a Juris Doctorate in 1990, where he continues to be actively involved as member of the school’s Board of Counselors and previously served as its chair.
