Tom Washing began his career as a tax, corporate and securities lawyer with a Wall Street law firm. He has been active in the venture capital industry for over 35 years and was a founding partner of Sequel Venture Partners in Boulder, Colorado. More recently, Tom has been an active angel investor in early-stage companies with a particular focus on impact investing.

Tom has served on several dozen corporate and nonprofit boards of directors including founding Chairman of the University of Colorado Center for Entrepreneurship, President and Chairman of the Colorado Venture Capital Association, Chairman of the University of Michigan National Technology Transfer Advisory Board and Co-Founder and Member of the Board of Trustees of Sustainable Change Alliance.

Tom is the recipient of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce Esprit Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award and the Ernst & Young Master Entrepreneur of the Year. He earned his BA from Dartmouth College and his JD (With Distinction) from the University of Michigan Law School. Tom served two years in United States Army Intelligence, completing his service as a Captain.
